Subiaco is a community of Benedictine monks in the Catholic Church serving God by prayer and work in the tradition of the Swiss-American Congregation. In fidelity to that tradition we proclaim the gospel through monastic and private prayer, hospitality, retreats and spiritual direction, education, parish, diocesan and special ministries. We are sustained in our vocation by the grace of God, our stewardship and labor, and the generosity of our benefactors.

Conception Abbey exists in order to praise God and become more Christ-like through a common life as given in the Rule of St. Benedict, cultivate a love of liturgy and the divine office, proclaim the Good News of salvation, prepare seminarians for the priesthood and lay leaders to meet the needs of the Church, minister in Christ-like service to all people through the Abbey Center for Prayer and Ministry, the Printery House and parishes, hospitals and convents, be open in ministry to rural people through wise stewardship of the land and natural resources and be ready to found new communities of Benedictine life, wherever the Holy Spirit and the Church call.

800 years ago, the Roman Catholic Church entrusted the guardianship of the Holy Land and other shrines of the Christian religion to the Order of St. Francis. This work has grown to include support of schools and missions in the Holy Land, as well as care for refugees and other needy people throughout the region. Mount St. Sepulchre is dedicated to this trust and to the related task of informing Americans and others of the continued need for this custody and care.
