The community, contemporary in expression but traditionally inspired, is unique for being the first Quaker Monastery in the U.S. The community follows a monastic schedule which includes time for intercessory prayer. They promote peace & foster interfaith understanding. They host retreats in a low-tech environment through a 3-fold perspective; the Quaker tradition of seeing that of God in every man, the Benedictine tradition of welcoming Christ in the person of every guest, and the Franciscan tradition of nourishing the body, soul & spirit through a connection with the natural world.

800 years ago, the Roman Catholic Church entrusted the guardianship of the Holy Land and other shrines of the Christian religion to the Order of St. Francis. This work has grown to include support of schools and missions in the Holy Land, as well as care for refugees and other needy people throughout the region. Mount St. Sepulchre is dedicated to this trust and to the related task of informing Americans and others of the continued need for this custody and care.
